Casper Ruud on First Masters Title: “I’ve Worked Towards This for a Long Time – Dreamed of It Since Childhood”

World No. 15 Casper Ruud shared his feelings after winning the tournament in Madrid. He defeated Jack Draper 7/5, 3/6, 6/4 to claim his first career Masters title.

– You are a Masters champion now. What are your emotions?

– Of course, they are incredible. I`ve been working towards this for a long time – I dreamed of it since I was a child. Achieving this goal feels extremely satisfying. I played a great match today. I knew Jack has been performing fantastically all year, especially during this tournament. If I hadn`t played at my absolute best, he would have simply blown me away. Fortunately, I played really well.

Jack is a fantastic player on any surface. He has won everywhere except clay, but now he has reached a final in Madrid. He`s having an impressive season. For me, this victory is a huge confidence boost. I hope I can keep performing this way,” Ruud stated in his post-match interview.

After securing the win, the Norwegian left a message on the camera lens. “Y nada más” (And nothing more), Ruud wrote in Spanish.
