Casper Ruud Explains Realistic Approach to Tournament Goals

Norwegian tennis player Casper Ruud, ranked 15th in the world, shared his approach to setting and achieving goals during tennis tournaments. He noted that aiming to win every tournament can lead to significant disappointment.

In his opinion, it`s important to set realistic goals. For instance, he believes it`s wrong to say he wants to win all clay-court tournaments, as it`s virtually impossible; even Rafael Nadal, the only one who came close, sometimes lost.

Casper gave an example: reaching the quarter-finals of the Madrid tournament was a realistic goal for him. He added that if such a goal is achieved, one can set more ambitious targets, but he tries not to put excessive pressure on himself after reaching the initial goal.

In the current Madrid Masters tournament (running from April 23 to May 4), Ruud has advanced to the fourth round and is set to play against American tennis player Taylor Fritz. The match is scheduled for April 29.
