Barbora Krejčíková, currently ranked 16th in the world, recently spoke about the serious back injury that sidelined her for over six months. The Czech player made her return to the WTA Tour yesterday in Strasbourg but was defeated by Magda Linette in the opening round with a score of 3/6, 3/6.
Recounting her experience, Krejčíková stated that in the initial two to three months following the injury, the pain was intense enough to affect her daily life and progressively worsened. The severity of the pain during the Asian swing tournaments left her with no alternative but to withdraw from several events.
Although her condition improved temporarily, allowing her to compete in the WTA Finals held in Riyadh, she subsequently realized that a complete halt was necessary to fully address the issue. She emphasized that her focus over the past six months has been solely on achieving full recovery.
`I was obligated to stop to fully resolve the issue. That`s what I`ve been doing for the past six months,` the former Grand Slam champion commented.
