World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka discussed her reasons for enjoying lighthearted moments during interviews and award ceremonies.
Lately, you`ve been involved in some quite funny situations. Your post-match interviews, award ceremonies – they`re full of energy, laughter, jokes. You stuck out your tongue in Indian Wells, told your team you hated them…
Well, I really do hate them. I`m just telling the truth (smiles).
Could you talk about your post-match interviews and award ceremonies – your favorite moments, maybe less successful ones, and how you manage to keep them so entertaining?
Honestly, I don`t know. I just stay myself. I don`t try to pretend to be someone else. I believe humor is the best thing in life. So I always try to bring a little fun. That`s just who I am, and my team is the same way. Everything happens naturally. When I need to give a speech, I never prepare it in advance – it`s probably obvious (laughs). I just go with the flow, that`s all.
Can you recall a couple of your favorite moments from these occasions?
Hmm, I don`t even know which one to pick. Any speech is always fun. I enjoy all of them, regardless of whether I won or lost. I always find a way to have fun and enjoy the moment. Even if I lost a final, I still have fun,” Sabalenka stated at the press conference.
