Arthur Rinderknech Reflects on His Historic Shanghai Masters Semifinal Berth

World No. 54, Arthur Rinderknech, shared his immense joy and emotions following his advancement to the semifinals of the Shanghai Masters. He secured this career-best result at a Masters 1000 event by defeating Félix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets, 6/3, 6/4.

“It`s incredible,” the French tennis player remarked during his post-match on-court interview. “Firstly, I`m simply trying to emulate my cousin, [Valentin Vacherot]. On Thursday, he experienced such profound emotions, and I aimed to do the very same – to fight, to battle, and to push myself to the absolute limit. This entire week has been nothing short of phenomenal from the start.”

“My entire family is following my brother and me from back home, and here, it feels like we`re secluded in our own little world. Today, I played some excellent tennis, and I`m particularly happy to have won in two sets; it means I won`t be overly fatigued for tomorrow`s match.”

“Yesterday, I was incredibly nervous watching his match (Rinderknech was in Vacherot`s player box during his encounter with Holger Rune). I don`t typically sit court-side as a spectator, but I desperately wanted him to win. I was on edge, though I tried not to show it, so as not to disturb him. Today, however, out on the court, I felt significantly calmer.”
