Arthur Fils Breaks Rafael Nadal’s Record

Arthur Fils, the world No. 15, has achieved a remarkable feat at the Monte-Carlo Masters. By defeating Andrey Rublev in the third round with a score of 6/2, 6/3, Fils has become the youngest player in tennis history to reach the quarterfinals in his first three Masters 1000 events of the season.

At the start of the tournament, the French player was 20 years and 298 days old. This achievement surpasses the record previously held by Rafael Nadal, who was 20 years and 316 days old in 2007 when he accomplished the same milestone.

The top 5 youngest players to achieve this since 1990 are:

  • Rafael Nadal in 2008 (21 years and 321 days)
  • Novak Djokovic in 2009 (21 years and 326 days)
  • Andy Murray in 2009 (21 years and 333 days)

Fils previously reached the third round at both Indian Wells and Miami Masters this season. In Monte-Carlo, he will compete against Carlos Alcaraz or Daniel Altmaier for a spot in the next round.
