Anthony Hamilton, father of Lewis Hamilton, is set to take on a position within the FIA as part of a new young driver development program.
Hamilton, who has been advising the FIA for the past 18 months, is reportedly `very motivated` to undertake these new responsibilities.
The 65-year-old is anticipated to be confirmed in his new post in June, coinciding with the FIA`s launch of its `Young Driver Development Pathway`.
Lewis Hamilton seemingly doesn`t have the best relationship with FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, though the latter has been impressed by Anthony`s advisory work.
Lewis alleged that Ben Sulayem used words with a `racial element` when cautioning F1 drivers against swearing on the radio, drawing comparisons to rappers.
As recently as Thursday, ahead of this weekend`s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver criticized the ongoing issue concerning swearing after the FIA lowered the fines for using offensive language.
“It is ridiculous,” Hamilton commented. “I honestly don`t really know… Nothing I say is going to make any difference to it.”
