World No. 8 Andrey Rublev, after advancing to the second round in Barcelona, shared his thoughts on whether he considers clay to be his favorite playing surface.
Responding to the question, Rublev stated, “Yes and no. Yes, because I`ve achieved some really strong results on clay, but also no, because I`ve consistently had poor results each year as well. I`ve come to realize that it`s not about the surface anymore. It`s simply that when everything is clicking for you, the surface and other factors become irrelevant. Conversely, when things aren`t going well, it doesn`t matter if I have the best surface, the most convenient opponent, or the easiest draw – I`ll still lose immediately,” Rublev told the `Game Set Max` Telegram channel.
Andrey Rublev also commented on whether he feels intimidated working with his childhood idol.
