Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on the Wimbledon Final: “When I Lost Such Matches, It Was Hopeless”

Russian tennis player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, a quarterfinalist at Wimbledon 2025, shared her thoughts on the dramatic final match where Poland`s Iga Świątek decisively defeated American Amanda Anisimova with a score of 6-0, 6-0.

“I was, of course, 100% surprised by the scoreline. It seemed to me that Amanda, especially after defeating Sabalenka, was in superb form. Grass is truly her preferred surface. The only thing is, Centre Court there is much slower than Court No. 1. I once went out on Court No. 1 with [Sonay] Kartal and couldn`t get anything going at all… When I myself lost matches with such a one-sided score, it was very unpleasant. You sit in the locker room thinking: maybe I should just quit, because there were no chances whatsoever.”

— Pavlyuchenkova revealed during the `Bolshe!` broadcast.

This remarkable victory marked Świątek`s sixth career Grand Slam title and her inaugural Wimbledon championship, adding a significant milestone to her impressive achievements.
