Alpine is reportedly considering changes to its driver lineup for the upcoming Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola. Australian driver Jack Doohan`s participation is under review, with Franco Colapinto potentially stepping in.
Doohan, who has yet to score points this season, has faced performance challenges. His recent struggles included an early exit from Sprint Qualifying at the Miami Grand Prix and a retirement from the main race following a first-lap incident.
Sources indicate that Alpine is assessing Doohan`s future and is expected to finalize a decision sometime this week, ahead of the Imola event scheduled for May 16-18.
Alpine representatives have not provided official comments regarding the situation. While the team principal previously affirmed Doohan as a current driver, he also acknowledged that evaluations are ongoing and speculation is normal in motorsport.
Since his debut races for Alpine, Doohan has not secured any championship points. His season has included notable incidents, such as crashes during his home Grand Prix in Australia and in practice in Japan. His best race finish remains 13th.
In contrast, teammate Pierre Gasly has been responsible for scoring all of Alpine`s seven points this season, highlighted by a strong finish in Bahrain and a point from the Miami Sprint race.
