Alexey Vatutin Forced to Retire from Milan Challenger Opening Match

Russian tennis player Alexey Vatutin, ranked world No. 339, was unable to complete his first-round match at the Milan Challenger. He retired against his opponent, Portugal`s Frederico Ferreira Silva, who is ranked No. 266 on the ATP tour.

Vatutin withdrew when the score stood at 3-6, 1-1 in favor of Ferreira Silva. The match had been in progress for 1 hour and 11 minutes before its premature conclusion.

This result marks Ferreira Silva`s first victory over Vatutin, narrowing the head-to-head record between the two players to 2-1 in favor of the Russian.
