World No. 140 Alexandra Eala shared her overwhelming emotions after defeating Iga Swiatek in the Miami tournament quarter-finals with a score of 2-6, 5-7. This victory marks the first time in her career that the Filipina player has reached the semi-finals of a `thousand` level tournament.
– You`ve beaten three Grand Slam champions here in Miami. Incredible.
– I`m almost speechless. I`m still in disbelief and absolutely over the moon. Thank you to everyone who came to watch, and to those watching from home.
– I have a photo on my phone from your graduation at the Rafael Nadal Academy where you`re standing with Iga. In your wildest dreams, did you believe that two years later you would be able to beat her at one of the biggest tennis tournaments?
– It`s surreal. I feel like I`m still the same person in that photo. I am so happy and blessed to be able to compete against such a player at this level,” Eala said in an on-court interview.
