Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz discussed his victory and progression to the final of the Rome Masters tournament. He overcame Italian Lorenzo Musetti in the semi-final, winning 6-3, 7-6(4).
Alcaraz believes Musetti`s nerves stemmed from playing in front of his home crowd.
“Musetti has been in this position before, reaching the semi-finals of a Masters for the third straight time. However, playing at home adds a different pressure when you`re aiming for the final in front of your fans. Those thoughts can definitely work against you.”
“He made quite a few errors early on and seemed very tense. I noticed that and tried to capitalise on it, using his mistakes to my advantage. I focused on playing smart and solid tennis, which helped me secure the first set,” Alcaraz stated during his post-match press conference.
